Personal statement
I am an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist and a final-year PhD researcher at the University of Edinburgh’s Eating Disorders & Behaviors Lab, where I study how cyber sexual trauma impacts the development of eating disorder symptoms.
My passion lies in bridging clinical care and precision mental health through translational AI. Over the past two years, I have developed idiographic models to improve the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders, and I am currently leading the creation of a privacy-first phenotyping platform that integrates real-time monitoring for clinician-ready decision support.
Clinically, I have extensive experience working with eating disorders, personality disorders, substance misuse, and trauma. I am intensively trained in DBT through the Linehan Institute and currently serve as a Trainer-in-Training with DBT MENA, where I co-founded the region’s first DBT outclient program and incident unit at The Behman Hospital. In addition, I am an NCFED MasterPractitioner in Eating Disorders and have advanced training in CBT-E (Oxford) and Family-Based Therapy (FBT), along with several other therapeutic modalities.
Working at the intersection of research, clinical care, and innovation, I am committed to advancing precision psychiatry while reducing stigma around mental health. I hold degrees in Psychology, Economics, and Clinical Psychology, and I am fluent in English, French, and Arabic.
